1/1200th Scale Models

If you have an interest in any of the multitude of boats that sail or have sailed the Great Lakes, these models are for you. Hugh grew up and resides along Lake St. Clair, Michigan. From his shoreline vantage point, he developed an affection for the long boats that he watched glide by on the lake. Realizing that lake boat models were virtually non-existent, he began building his own at an early age. His own collection soon grew to over 200 models, and at one time was on display at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle, Detroit, MI.. Each is handmade from balsa wood, plastic and metal. Hugh spends many hours of research for each model to assure the buyer that they have the most accurate representation of the vessel they desire. With an extensive reference library of ships and shipping, just about any boat from any year can be modeled. Collectors from around the Great Lakes and world, appreciate the detail and wonderful attention to fleet markings. A few collectors are in the process of acquiring every ship that sailed for a certain fleet. Due to the small scale of these models, (1"= 100') display is not a problem. They take up very little space (which is a delight to some spouses). Along with the lake boats, Hugh has also modeled naval vessels and ocean going ships.
